Our Program FAQs

Frequently asked questions about our online SEAM program is below. 

What is SEAM?

     SEAM is an acronym that denotes 
     STEM  - Hands on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
     ENGLISH  - Level based English Language Arts program includes Reading, Writing, Vocabulary, and Grammar
     ART - Drawing, Sketching, Painting, Crafts
     MATHEMATICS - Singapore Math Program with focus on problem solving

What online schedules are available for my child?
     
If your child is in grades K to 2, the program is twice a week for two hours each day on Tuesdays and Thursdays (4-6pm).
     If your child is in grades 3 to 6, our program is thrice a week for two hours each day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (4-6pm).

What is the tuition for the program?
     For Grades K to 2: Tuition is $250/month/student
     For Grades 3 to 6: Tuition is $350/month/student

Is there a materials fee?
    Yes, there is a materials fee of $200 per year per student that covers all of the textbooks, workbooks, art and stem materials required for the school year. Materials may be picked up from our local centers in Fremont/Newark or requested to be shipped to your home.

What is the Withdrawal Policy?
     Registration is on a month to month basis. Tuition is due on the first of every month and delinquent there after. Withdrawals are only allowed at the end of the month. There will be no refunds after the start of the month.

When does the program begin and end?
    The school year program begins on September 1st and ends on May 31st. Our Summer program begins late June and ends early August. Separate registrations are required for school year programs and summer programs.

What is the class size?
     8 -12 students per Class.

Are there homeworks provided for the math and english programs?
     Students will have homework that they will be required to complete asynchronously and bring it to the next session. 

Are there tests, quizzes or exams?
     Yes, students take tests from time to time in order to gauge their understanding of the subject and to be promoted to the next grade level Math and English. 

Are there any prorations for missed classes?
    Missed classes are not prorated or compensated, however students may complete the work asynchronously and review it with the teacher in the next meeting. 

What is the yearly calendar of holidays?
     A yearly calendar with holidays observed will be provided after registration. IKIDZ observes all federal holidays in the school year. Tuition is a flat fee tuition each month, and are not prorated towards any federal holidays.

Are there breaks/recess provided?
Breaks and recess are at the discretion of the teachers. Students however may take the teacher's permission during class for bathroom breaks. There will be no snack break during each session that runs for 2 hours. Students may not eat or munch during class time. Students must have their snacks prior to joining our sessions or after the class time is finished.

What kind of preparation is needed at home to take the online program?
We recommend providing a quiet corner with a computer with speakers and mic, headphones (preferred), a larger desk/work area that helps students keep their workbooks and materials required for the class when the class is in session and a nice comfortable chair.
